You might be wondering why this picture is here?

Sarveen Kohli

Before I jump into the main topic, I’d like to share the inspiring story of my wife, Sarveen Kohli, who successfully transitioned from IT to digital marketing.

After spending a decade as a business analyst and test engineer in both India and Germany, Sarveen was well-established in her field. However, her journey took an unexpected turn during her maternity break.

Determined to use her time productively, Sarveen decided to upgrade her technical skills. She enrolled in a six-month vocational training program at a German digital technology school called Alfatraining. The course, conducted in German, posed no challenge for her, as she already held a B2-level certificate in the language. It covered various coding modules, including Basic Web Development (HTML/CSS), JavaScript, and React.

What truly changed her career path was her decision to take a digital marketing module during this course on a whim. Though it was a completely new field for her, she found herself fascinated. This unexpected choice ignited a passion, leading her to realize that digital marketing was her true calling. Thus, she made the leap from IT professional to Digital Marketing Strategist.

Adding to the remarkable nature of her transition, Sarveen was able to complete the course at no cost. Typically, each monthly module ranged from 1,000 to 1,500 euros, totaling between 7,000 and 9,000 euros. Thanks to a sponsorship, she paid nothing for the entire program.

By her final month of training, Sarveen had already started reaching out to potential international clients and quickly secured several projects. Her strategy was straightforward but effective: LinkedIn.

LinkedIn, often an ocean of opportunities, proved to be a goldmine when navigated correctly. Sarveen’s approach allowed her to find high-quality clients willing to pay well for her expertise.

Today, Sarveen is not only a Digital Marketing Strategist supporting her clients but also a cornerstone of my business. As the Content Strategist for Conical Education, her expertise encompasses web development, blogging, copywriting (for landing and sales pages), performance marketing, email marketing, marketing automation, and analytics.

If Sarveen can transition from IT to digital marketing with ease, thanks to her technical background and a spark of curiosity, so can you 🙂
